I am an Associate Professor (Maître de conférences) in English Phonetics and Phonology at Université Paris 8 Vincennes–Saint-Denis since September 2025.
My research is grounded in Laboratory Phonology, exploring how articulatory gestures are produced, coordinated, and cognitively represented, and how they relate to the acoustic speech signal. I am particularly interested in how phonological representations are acquired and shaped by language experience, from the development of speech patterns in children and their differences from those of adults to the adaptation and integration of new phonological patterns during second language acquisition. I also explore the role of literacy acquisition in shaping these representations.
My work combines experimental phonetics, speech technology, and natural language processing. I am also involved in developing digital tools for language learning, including lisero, an app for learning Romanian Sign Language (LSR) developed in collaboration with Fundația CODA Farmecul Tăcerii.
